The pre - feeder is installed prior to a hew saw. It has a log turner integrated in the design.

The logs are traveling on the scan conveyor towards the turner. As the log enters the turner it executes the solution provided by the optimizer.

A set of two vertical and two horizontal rollers hold the log, center it for the hew saw and assist the hew saw feeding the log.

Some machines are operating up to 550 fpm. The infeed works in ribbon feed as well as in scan and set mode.
