Log Sorters

We offer Log Sorters that will measure and sort hardwood or softwood logs with automatic diameter measuring and operator grade input.

Log separation typically occurs after the debarker. In typical softwood mills the separation criteria is either sorting by diameter, class or in combination with a 3-D scanner separation according to saw patterns. The number of sorting bins depends on the diameter spread, quality classes, and number of sawing patterns. Typical sorters are equipped with double kickers for logs from eight feet to 10 feet in length. For sorting logs 16 feet in length, three kickers are used. Each system is designed for your specific application.

Log sorters combined with a metal detector are also available. These sorters utilize a sweep off or a star kicker to separate out logs with metal content.
